Kek Lok Si Temple

Angela reporting here! Although this is not my first time blogging, I'm still an amatuer. So please bear with me as I try to make it as interesting as possible!

Recently, I travelled to Malaysia and one of the place I visited was the Kek Lok Si temple.

Kek Lok Si, a Buddhist temple on the central part of Penang Island in Malaysia. Apparently it means 'Temple of the Supreme Bliss'. One of the most iconic marks of the Kek Lok Si temple is the pagoda that towers over the town.

To enter, you will find an ascending stairway towards the temple. On both sides are stalls selling tourist items, souvenirs and trinkets.

Even though the stairway is not steep, I was out of breath. I must be unfit.

The souvenir passageway leads to a pond that holds hundreds of tortoises, with many of them over fifty years old. It is one of the highlights of the Kek Lok Si temple. A man will be there to sell a type of vegetable for you to feed the tortoises.

So many of them!!!

...And here is where I must disappoint you: I did not go beyond the tortoise pond. You see, I woke up late and when I got to the place, the gates were about to close. I only had enough time to check out the tortoises. I apologise.

BUT I will go back and visit the temple again (well technically I didn't go to the temple but you get what I mean). For now, I will leave my adventure to Kek Lok Si temple for another time.

Until next time.

Angela out!
